about mebeverine -reserpine derivative antimuscarinic a musculotropic antispasmodic motility stimulant. -mechanism of action of mebeverine -mebeverine has a direct relaxant effect on smooth muscle. this will inhibits gastrointestinal propulsive motility and gastric acid secretion. - -indications for mebeverine -1.irritable bowel syndrome - -typical dosage for mebeverine -adult: 405 mg / day in 3- divided doses to be taken 20 minutes before meals. dose can be gradually reduced after 1 week if sufficient response is obtained. -children above 10 years: 405 mg / day in 3- divided doses to be taken 20 minutes before meals. dose can be gradually reduced after 1 week if sufficient response is obtained. -children below 10 years: contraindicated.
